Professional Learning Collaboratives

All of the schools in Discovery are committed to ensuring staff have access to high quality learning, focused on improving outcomes for children. Our schools commit to an agreed strategy whereby the following principles are adhered to:

Discovery Schools Trust Professional Standards

  1. Professional development should have a focus on improving and evaluating pupil outcomes.
  2. Professional development should be underpinned by robust evidence and expertise.
  3. Professional development should include collaboration and expert challenge.
  4. Professional development programmes should be sustained over time.
  5. Professional development must be prioritised by school leadership.

Each of the schools in the trust has established a series of learning collaboratives designed to advance pedagogy and curriculum in their school and to improve personal practice. Learning collaboratives run over a full academic year and involve joint working sessions, practice based tasks and a focus on trialling teaching and leadership methods to improve outcomes for children.

Details about our professional learning collaboratives and other professional development can be found through our online booking site

Sharing outcomes
We compile and share the findings from our learning at the end of each academic year through a series of teachmeet events which ensure that we mobilize successes and failures within our learning collaboratives.

Each of the networks also leads on promoting children for our annual Awards events which celebrates the achievements of children and adults from across all our schools.
